Yahoo! Acquires del.icio.us

Yahoo! acquired del.icio.us in effort to improve its community based web services. After purchasing Flickr a while ago, seems like Yahoo! is ready for more major expansions. Hopefully, Yahoo! will come up with a new way to improve the apps, instead of just changing hands.

Joshua Schachter, founder of del.icio.us writes the del.icio.us team will soon be working in close proximity to their fraternal twin, Flickr. And just like we’ve done with Flickr, we plan to give del.icio.us the resources, support, and room it needs to continue growing the service and community. Finally, don’t be surprised if you see My Web and del.icio.us borrow a few ideas from each other in the future.

Many bloggers have been using both Flickr and del.icio.us to manage images and links, and now assuming that Yahoo! is going to integrate both the services, plus more, then we should expect more usable application as a result.
