Myth 14: I Am Nobody, No One Will Read

The Myths of Business BloggingPeople from different backgrounds and countries have started all kind of blogs from personal blog to business blog. Despite this fact, and the rate at which the blogosphere grows, there are still people who think that because they are not a celebrity or anybody, they can not start a blog.

Even if they do start one, no one will care enough to spend their time reading.

This kind of thought can’t be further from the truth.

Perhaps we regularly visit our favorite blogs, who have been very popular when the first time we got there. We can’t imagine we could build the kind of readership like that. Probably there is some magic behind the scene. What we know for a fact is the blogger actually is a talented person with bright ideas and style.

It is true. Some of them are already popular before they started a blog. Others may have a great brand or name to support the business blogs.

Still, many of fellow bloggers have just started two to three years ago. Back then, they have nothing but a little motivation and passion about what they are blogging.

We often underestimate what two or three years could bring to our life and business. Believe me, it could mean a whole lot different.

The truth is, as long as you have something to say, you will get readers. I think blogs follow the long tail model, of which even the most obscure blogs get at least some readers.

But of course, you are into business blogging not just for a handful of readers. That is why a strategy plays a big role in planning, running and growing a business blog.

Targeting a niche where you can thrive is a strategy. Having a sound content strategy is a must.

If you live and breathe your business, chances are you know some of the problems around your niche and have solutions for them. You know far better than average people. Dig deeper, and soon you will become an expert who could talk and blog things that people will listen to.

Of course, it is more complicated than that, but nowadays there is no person too small to be listened to. Anyone could blog as long as they have something to say that people will find interesting.

A “nobody” could damage a brand when they blog about their hands-on experience regarding a specific product, or simply write a comment on another blog. That is how powerful a random people could be within the blogosphere.
