Blogger.com Adds Support for RSS Feed

Without an official announcement, Google finally has given up its stubbornness to add RSS feed support into their blog hosting platform, Blogger. Up until now, Blogger has only provided suport for Atom 0.3 feed syndication.

There is a workaround that. In fact, it is recommended to use service like FeedBurner to not only add more syndication format but also give yourself more power in terms of tracking and stats availability.

Instead of using the default specification, Blogger uses OpenSearch RSS 1.0. The latlater is an extension to the RSS 2.0 standard, which adds functionality required to provide search results over RSS channels.

At last, publishers have more choices to syndicate their content. For business owners, I still recommend that you transfer you setup Blogger on your own domain. Redirect your feed to FeedBurner for additional stats features.
